EDKWKT at a glance

The main objective of EDKWKT is to organise business persons, and organized business (in particular SMMEs) under one umbrella body in order to represent, articulate, protect, defend, promote and develop their interests, and to promote economic growth and to uplift the historically disadvantaged sector of communities in the Republic of South.

Most of our business people in the townships over many years dating back to the early fifties have been in retail businesses from general to general since the apartheid system never allowed black business people to be involved in any other kind of businesses and at the time business chambers such as Nafcoc and many others were formed as a tool to fight the system for entry into the main business opportunities.

Because also of the entry of foreigners in our country, the same retail business our fathers and mothers fought to build has now been eroded and taken over by foreigners from all over the world after having been allowed to be in South Africa and this has created a huge poverty gap within our members and we are appealing for access to opportunities that will assist our members in this area of business to survive.

Our organisation carters for a growing number of members currently with 15 organisations that partner with us and more than 1000 members in 10 townships.
